Interfaces in Materials: Atomic Structure, Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Solid/Vapor, Solid/Liquid and Solid/Solid Interfaces by James M. Howe,
A thorough exploration of the atomic structures atomic chadwick model and properties of the essential engineering interfaces--an invaluable resource for students, teachers, atomic chadwick model and professionals The most up-to-date, accessible guide to solid-vapor, solid-liquid, atomic chadwick model and solid-solid phase transformations, this innovative book contains the only unified treatment of these three central engineering interfaces. Employing a simple nearest-neighbor broken-bond model, Interfaces in Materials focuses on metal alloys in a straightforward approach that can be easily extended to all types of interfaces atomic chadwick model and materials. Enhanced with nearly 300 illustrations, along with extensive references atomic chadwick model and suggestions for further reading, this book provides: A simple, cohesive approach to understanding the atomic structure atomic chadwick model and properties of interfaces formed between solid, liquid, atomic chadwick model and vapor phases Self-contained discussions of each interface--allowing separate study of each phase transformation A comparative look at the different interfaces, including atomic structure atomic chadwick model and crystallography; anisotropy, roughening, atomic chadwick model and melting; interfacial stability atomic chadwick model and segregation; continuous atomic chadwick model and ledge growth models; atomic chadwick model and atomistic modeling An analysis of nearest-neighbor broken-bond results against thermodynamic atomic chadwick model and kinetic descriptions of the interfaces Problem sets at the end of each chapter, emphasizing the key concepts detailed in the text Spanning the fields of chemical, electrical atomic chadwick model and computer engineering, materials science, solid-state physics, atomic chadwick model and microscopy, Interfaces in Materials bridges a major gap in the literature of surface atomic chadwick model and interface science.

Shell model - In the nuclear physics, the nuclear shell model is a model of the atomic nucleus. It is analogous to the atomic shell model that is more familiar to those who have studied basic physics.

Bohr model - In atomic physics, the Bohr model depicts the atom as a small, positively charged nucleus surrounded by electrons in orbit - similar in structure to the solar system, but with electrostatic forces providing attraction, rather than gravity. Its key success was in explaining the Rydberg formula for the spectral emission lines of atomic hydrogen; while the Rydberg formula had been known experimentally, it did not gain a theoretical underpinning until the Bohr model was introduced.

Debye model - In thermodynamics and solid state physics, the Debye model is a method developed by Peter Debye in 1912 for estimating the phonon contribution to the specific heat (heat capacity) in a solid. The Debye model treats the vibrations of the atomic lattice (heat) as phonons in a box, in contrast to Einstein model, which treats the solid as many individual, non-interacting quantum harmonic oscillators.

Nuclear Model - A nuclear model is any model that attempts to describe the atomic nucleus. See Atom.
